Choose the Right RV Inspection for You
By The Bay RV offers two inspection options for motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers. Both are performed by a certified RV service technician—the primary differences are the level of documentation you receive, the time required to complete the inspection, and two additional system tests included with the Premier RV Inspection.
Premier RV Inspection
Our Premier RV Inspection is our most comprehensive option for buyers who want an in-depth evaluation and detailed documentation of the RV before making a purchase.
A Premier Inspection typically takes approximately 5–8 hours on site and covers 500+ inspection points, including accessible RV systems, components, appliances, interior and exterior condition, roof, electrical and plumbing systems, life-safety items, and more.
After the inspection, you’ll receive a comprehensive digital report packed with photos and video documenting the inspection findings.
Premier Inspection includes:
- Approximately 5–8 hours on site
- 500+ inspection points
- Comprehensive inspection process
- Detailed inspection report
- Photos and video
- Available for new and used RVs
- Available for motorhomes and towables
Available Add-on: RV Fluid Analysis
Best for: Buyers who want our most comprehensive inspection and detailed documentation before purchasing an RV.
RV Tech Survey
Our RV Tech Survey is designed for buyers who want a thorough, hands-on evaluation of an RV by a certified RV service technician but don’t require the extensive documentation included with a Premier RV Inspection.
The Tech Survey evaluates many of the same RV systems, components, and condition items covered during our Premier Inspection, with the exception of two additional system tests reserved for the Premier level.
The biggest difference is documentation.
RV Tech Survey includes:
- Approximately 1–3 hours on site
- Inspection by a certified RV service technician
- Completed inspection walksheet
- Available for new and used RVs
- Available for motorhomes and towables
- No comprehensive digital report, photos, or video
Available Add-on: RV Fluid Analysis
Best for: Buyers who want a thorough technician evaluation of the RV but don’t need the extensive photo, video, and reporting package included with a Premier Inspection.

You have questions. wE have answers.
These are the common questions that customers ask us about getting an RV inspection before they purchase their next RV.
Yes. A dealership pre-delivery inspection (PDI) and an independent third-party RV inspection serve different purposes.
A dealer PDI is typically performed by the selling dealership as part of its process for preparing the RV for delivery. An independent inspection is performed on behalf of you, the buyer, by an inspector who is not part of the selling dealership.
By The Bay RV provides an independent evaluation based on the inspection service you select, helping you better understand the RV’s condition before you accept delivery or complete your purchase.
Yes. Brand-new RVs can have issues too, which is why an independent inspection before accepting delivery can be valuable.
Identifying and documenting concerns before you take delivery gives you an opportunity to discuss those findings with the dealership and have issues addressed before you leave with the RV.
With a Premier RV Inspection, yes. You’ll receive a comprehensive inspection report containing photos and video documenting inspection findings.
With an RV Tech Survey, you’ll receive a copy of the completed inspection walksheet. Photos, video, and the comprehensive Premier report are not included.
Both inspections evaluate many of the same RV systems, components, and condition items and are performed by a certified RV service technician.
The primary difference is documentation. A Premier RV Inspection includes a comprehensive digital report with photos and video, while the RV Tech Survey includes a completed inspection walksheet without the extensive photo and video documentation. The Premier Inspection also includes two additional system tests not included in the Tech Survey.
Our RV Tech Survey is only available within Manatee and Sarasota counties.
Our Premier RV Inspections are available throughout Bradenton, Sarasota, Tampa Bay, Venice, Punta Gorda, Orlando, and surrounding areas of Central and Southwest Florida.
Yes. We routinely perform inspections for out-of-state buyers who haven’t personally seen the RV.
If the RV is located within our inspection territory, we can coordinate access with the dealership or private seller and perform the inspection on your behalf.
Premier Inspection customers receive a comprehensive report containing photos and video, making this service especially useful when evaluating an RV remotely.
We inspect Class A, Class B and Class C motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers.
Contact us if you’re considering an RV that doesn’t fall into one of those categories so we can determine whether we’re able to inspect it.
An RV can represent a significant investment, and problems aren’t always obvious during a walkthrough or test drive. An independent pre-purchase inspection can help identify and document concerns before you complete the purchase or accept delivery.
For a used RV, inspection findings may help you make a more informed buying decision, ask the seller additional questions, negotiate repairs or pricing, or decide that a particular RV isn’t right for you.
And inspections aren’t just for used RVs. We find issues on brand-new RVs, too. Identifying concerns before taking delivery gives you an opportunity to discuss those findings with the dealership before you leave with the RV.
The goal is simple: know more about the RV you’re buying before you buy it.
