RV A/C Problems We Repair

The Most Common RV AC Problems That We Diagnose are:
  • RV AC running but not cooling
  • AC won’t turn on
  • Weak airflow
  • Frozen RV AC
  • Capacitor/start-component problems
  • Fan or blower issues
  • Water/condensation issues
RV AC running but not cooling

If your RV AC is running but the air isn’t getting cold, the problem can have several possible causes. Airflow restrictions, dirty components, thermostat issues, electrical problems, or a failing AC component can all affect cooling performance. We can inspect and diagnose the system to determine what’s preventing it from cooling properly.

Capacitor & Start-Component Problems

Capacitors and other electrical components help your rooftop AC start and operate properly. When one fails, the air conditioner may struggle to start, hum without running correctly, operate intermittently, or fail to turn on at all. We can test these components and replace serviceable parts when appropriate.

Water/condensation Problems

RV air conditioners naturally produce condensation, but water entering the RV or appearing where it shouldn’t deserves attention. We can inspect the AC installation and system to help identify the source of the water or condensation problem.

Fan or blower issues

The rooftop fan and interior blower are critical to moving air through the AC system. Unusual noises, poor airflow, or a fan that won’t operate may indicate an electrical, motor, or mechanical problem that requires diagnosis.

You have questions. wE have answers.

These are the common questions that customers ask us about issues with their RV roof-top air conditioners.

Do you provide mobile RV AC repair near me?

By The Bay RV provides mobile RV AC service throughout much of Manatee and Sarasota Counties, including Bradenton, Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Palmetto, Ellenton, Parrish, Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, Nokomis, Venice, and surrounding communities.

We come directly to your RV at your home, RV resort or campground, storage facility, or other serviceable location. Call 941-725-5557 if you’re unsure whether your location is within our current service area.

Why is my RV AC running but not cooling?

An RV air conditioner can run without producing adequate cold air for several reasons. Start by confirming that the thermostat is set to COOL rather than FAN and that the temperature setting is below the current interior temperature.

If the settings are correct and the AC still isn’t cooling properly, airflow restrictions, dirty components, electrical issues, thermostat problems, or failing AC components may require professional diagnosis.

Can you replace an RV AC unit if it can’t be repaired?

Yes. Many components on an RV rooftop air conditioner can be diagnosed and replaced individually. However, if the problem involves a non-serviceable component such as the sealed compressor—or replacement is the more practical solution—we can replace the complete rooftop AC unit.

We’ll diagnose the system first and explain what we find before recommending repair or replacement.

What RV AC brands do you service?

We service all brands of RV rooftop air conditioners. Some of the most common systems we encounter include Dometic, Coleman-Mach, Furrion, Houghton, Advent, and GE.

If you have a different brand or aren’t sure which AC system is installed on your RV, give us a call at 941-725-5557.

Is my RV AC is still under warranty?

Most RV AC manufacturer’s carry a limited two-year warranty, for the original purchaser. Typically, if you are the original owner the AC warranty starts on the date you purchased the RV. Be sure to check with your manufacturer to confirm your warranty status.

How often should an RV air conditioner be serviced?

Service needs vary based on the AC system, usage, environment, and manufacturer recommendations. RV air conditioners operating frequently in Florida’s heat and humidity can benefit from regular inspection and cleaning.

By The Bay RV offers annual RV AC service and cleaning to help maintain cooling performance and identify developing problems.

RV AC Maintenance for Florida Heat & Humidity

Your RV’s rooftop air conditioner works especially hard in Southwest Florida. High temperatures, humidity, extended run times, and exposure to the elements can all affect AC performance.

Routine RV AC maintenance gives us an opportunity to inspect and clean the system, evaluate its operation, and identify potential issues before you’re left without air conditioning on a hot Florida day.

By The Bay RV provides annual RV AC service and cleaning for RV owners throughout Bradenton, Sarasota, and the surrounding area.

If your AC hasn’t been serviced recently—or you’re preparing your RV for the warmer months—schedule preventive AC service before a small issue becomes an uncomfortable one.
